How does it feel when you receive your Bachelor’s Degree and you land up getting a seat for Masters’s in a technical university in Germany, which would have the potential to change your career for the best? I guess you are feeling short of words to express your joy.
Then why is this joy short-lived when you have the mandate to learn the German language before moving out of the country? Isn’t it fair on their part to put German language skills as a prerequisite? Why do we question when we need to learn their national language, which certainly they are so proud about? Why is there a hesitance to accept this fact? The country that would be your home for many years to come and will help you fulfil your dreams, would certainly expect a small favour. Why do people dread learning the German language? Probably my thought process can help you to a certain extent ease your thinking. I hope so.
You need to first come out of the mindset of denial. Free yourself from the fear of learning a language. Start accepting the fact that it shall be your language skills coupled with your educational skills, which shall take you places.
Secondly learning a new language can only help you tap into your creative side, which perhaps would have been buried deep inside you, in those academic years. Let that be another motivating factor.
It is a language which will help you connect with people and help connect with their culture. It is a catalyst to develop healthy professional and personal relationships with people around you.
Lastly, take up language learning more in a natural way rather than focusing on numbers and mark sheets. They do adorn your skills at one point, but the initialization of learning should happen without any stress or inhibitions.
And before I wind up for today, always choose a good language teacher, who can help you with all mentioned above and help develop a love towards language learning.
